Earthenware jug with 3 cups in mixed brown, vintage
A sturdy earthenware jug in mixed brown with a set of 3 matching cups. The vintage jug was made in Volendam at Het Ambacht. Nice to know that Het Ambacht was founded to help fishermen earn money during the winter as well. Frank Carpay came to work there in 1951, who had worked at Madoura Potterie in Vallauris in France, he wanted to give the company its own identity, to make independent work. Unfortunately at that time there was an economic downturn and he was working with an unreliable business partner. In 1952 he emigrated to New Zealand and became a successful ceramist, graphic designer, fashion man and painter. Other well-known ceramists and designers have also worked for Het Ambacht, such as Francien Timmers, Marius de Leeuw and Maartje Steur.
In short, a beautiful and special also usable jug with 3 cups in warm brown with a light interior. The vintage jug with 3 cups are in good condition.
