Japanese Imari plate, large, antique
A Japanese Imari plate with the colours iron red, cobalt blue, soft green, soft yellow and gold. Imari porcelain is Japanese porcelain that was made in the city of Arita, then exported from the port city of Imari. From 1659 the porcelain was exported to Europe, of course first by the VOC. At the end of the 17th century the Imari came on the market with lots of colour and flowers. The most important colours are iron red, cobalt blue, white and gold, green was added later.
