Porcelain Hummel figurine, children on fence, garden guests
A sweet Hummel statue of 2 girls on a garden fence where they are sent by 2 birds, they look like chickadees. The statue from the 1940s is marked on the back with M.I. Hummel and at the bottom with number 179 with the V and the small bee above it. Made at the Goebel porcelain factory. Franz Goebel discovered Berta Hummel when he saw her drawings on postcards, cards with images of innocent children. After a conversation with her, he made porcelain figurines based on the drawings. Berta Hummel entered a monastery after studying applied arts in Munich. She continued with her art and drawings. The first Hummel figurines were created in 1935. This vintage Hummel statue is in good condition, see the additional photos.
